CubFest 2004

Event Calendar

Friday Afternoon and Evening - June 11th, 2004

We will be expecting the first of our visitors anytime after lunch hour on Friday, although if you have arrived early, give us a call at either David's or Alton's home phone. We can make arrangements to meet you as you arrive.
There will be ample room for RV parking, however there is a limited amount of electrical hook-ups available, so access will be on a first come first served basis.
As you are arriving throughout the afternoon, registration, setting up and of course a walk around the farm is probably the main occupation as well as meeting your hosts.
After supper, there will be a Meet and Greet where we will have either an open fire pit (depending on the fire index), or a covered pit where we can roast franks, sausages, marshmallows as you choose. This will be a great time for all of us to finally meet those whom we have chatted with and became friends with on the Forums. Of course the requisite Tall Tales and Good Jokes will be quite apropos, and will be enjoyed by all we hope.

Saturday - June 12th, 2004

The first workshop - "Carburator Rebuild" - will start at 9:00am thereabouts and will probably run about 1 to 1-1/2 hours depending on how things go. The Plowing Competition will be held shortly after the end of the Carb Workshop and will run till about 12-12:30, after which, lunch will be available on site.
This is still being negotiated, and we are hoping that one of our local deli owners will be providing lunch. We are trying to negotiate a special low price for lunch and it will be a pay as you go affair.
The second workshop - "Transmission Rebuild" will start approximately at 1:30pm and will probably run about the same as the Carb Workshop - 1 to 1-1/2 hours in duration. The Hilling Competition will be held shortly after the completion of the Tranny Workshop.
The object of the Plowing Competition is not how fast you can plow a row, but how accurately and how straight. There will be independant judges on hand, who will decide the winner of the competition. I am sure that we will all enjoy either watching or participating in the contests. The Hilling Competition is much the same, not how fast but how well you make the rows. Remember that a farmer takes much pride in how straight and true his rows are and our farmers here in the Maritimes are no exception!
The Judges for our Competitions will be representatives of our corporate sponsors. Prizes for each competition will be presented at the conclusion of each excersise.
Dinner is planned to be a sit down affair, most likely to be a Roast Beef Dinner with all the fixin's. This also is still being negotiated as we want to have the best available at a reasonable price.

In the evening after dinner is the Olde Tyme Barn Dance ,featuring the Happy-go-Lucky Fiddlers. Get set for some real olde tyme Maritime fiddlin'! It should be quite a bit of fun.

Sunday - June 13th, 2004

The last of the three workshops - Governor Rebuild - will start at approximately 9:00am and again run about 1 to 1-1/2 hours in duration. The final competition of skill and not speed will start shortly after the end of the Workshop. This last exercise will probably be the most difficult test of one's ability to work a Cub. The Wagon Manouvering Competition is designed to test your skill in REVERSE!. The object will be to back up a wagon between two other wagons, so that your wagon is aligned with the other two wagons - parallel to and stopped even with the rear of the other wagons. This one should be a lot of fun! Good thing we will not need a drivers licence for this one!
Lunch will be a BBQ provided by The Kings County Beef 4-H Club. This will help support the local 4-H Club and hopefully develope an interest in Antique Tractors among the youth. It will be typical BBQ fare and reasonably priced.
After lunch, it will unfortunately be time to bid a fond adieu to all of our visitors who are no longer just names on the forums, but friends whom we will miss dearly.
